Inn Shining Waters Country Inn has been welcoming guests to the Island for over fifty years. The original part of the building, constructed in the 1850's, was the home of several generations of the MacNeill family. It was moved by a team of horses to its present location in 1942 and converted to an inn. The author, L.M. Montgomery, wrote that the character Rachel Lynde, in the book "Anne of Green Gables" was taken from Rachael, Mrs. Pierce MacNeill. Her adopted daughter, Ellen, is believed by many to have been the inspiration for Anne. Beautiful Cavendish Beach and the famous Prince Edward Island National Park are only 500 metres away. The Anne of Green Gables House and Golf Course are just around the corner and the Cavendish Area Tourist Information Centre is directly across the street. In 2004 we added 6 new luxury suites, three in our new "Gatehouse" and three in the main building. The suites in the main building include a king luxury suite that features a king sleigh bed, whirlpool tub as well as a separate 4 piece bath and separate sitting area, and 2 other luxury suites with queen sleigh beds, 4 piece bath, and separate sitting areas. All Inn rooms are air-conditioned and have private bath. The Gatehouse contains 3 Luxury queen suites, one fully accessible. These spacious units each have a queen sleigh bed, 2 person whirlpool tub, fireplace, cable TV, bar fridge, a coffee maker, and sitting area. On the attached verandah each unit has chairs and a café table where you can sit and enjoy the evening breeze. The units are fully air-conditioned and have electric heat.
